The Department of Civil Engineering organized an industrial visit to the construction site of proposed PSC Bridge at Gurupura for final year civil engineering students as part of their curriculum. Total 51 final year students were participated in industrial visit, accompanied by three faculty members Ms Vani D, Mr Sachin U and Ms Pranamya K.

The visit was aimed at enhancing the knowledge & visualization of process-involved pre stressing of concrete structures. The site engineer Mr Deekshith explained in detail to the students about the total over view of the project. He explained in detail various structural elements of the proposed bridge starting from the foundation to the deck slab. Students got an opportunity to witness the post tensioning of 25m span prestressed concrete girder and could relate well with theoretical classroom study with the practical application. Students were very interactive with the site engineers and posed numerous questions for better understanding of different elements and process involved in prestressed concrete structures.
