As part of the Industrial Exposure Program, the final-year students of the Department of Civil Engineering visited a Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC) Plant on 30th October 2025. The visit was organized to provide students with practical exposure to concrete production technology, quality control systems, and modern construction practices.

The students were accompanied by Dr. Prakash K. G. and Mr. Chittaranjan M, who guided them throughout the visit and facilitated meaningful interactions with the plant officials.

The program was conducted in two sessions:

Session I – Orientation and Plant Operations:
The plant engineer provided an overview of the RMC production process, explaining the functioning of various units such as cement silos, aggregate bins, batching systems, mixing units, and control panels. Students learned how raw materials like cement, aggregates, water, and admixtures are proportioned and mixed under automated systems to produce concrete of desired grades and consistency.

Session II – Quality Assurance and Laboratory Demonstration:
The second session focused on the plant’s quality control laboratory, where students observed demonstrations on slump testing, workability measurement, and compressive strength testing. They gained insights into the importance of accurate mix design, real-time process monitoring, and adherence to safety and sustainability practices, including water recycling and dust control.

Throughout the visit, students actively interacted with the plant personnel, clarifying their doubts regarding batching accuracy, concrete transportation using transit mixers, and the overall efficiency of the RMC production cycle.

The visit concluded with an interactive session on career and internship opportunities in the RMC industry, motivating students to explore practical learning and professional pathways in construction materials and production technology.
