The Branch Entry celebration of Department of Intelligent Computing and Business Systems (ICBS) was held on 11th October 2025 at Kalam Auditorium, St. Joseph Engineering College, under the theme “Masquerade of the Mafia.” . The event welcomed around 285 freshers, senior students, and 13 faculty members. The day began with a formal inauguration from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM, featuring the introduction of newly elected office bearers and an address by Chief Guest Dr. Muralikrishna S N., Associate Professor at MIT-Manipal. The faculty co-ordinators of the program were Dr. Shabina Bhaskar and Ms. Shruthi Patil.
In the formal session, Dr. Harivinod N, Head of the Department, welcomed the freshers to the ICBS department and emphasized the importance of student associations in promoting holistic growth and departmental progress. The Chief Guest, Dr. Muralikrishna S N, delivered an inspiring address highlighting the evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence through LLMs, stressing the role of innovation, practical learning, and real-world applications in computer science. Student Association President Pete Royce Saldanha shared his vision for the year, encouraging students to aim high and engage actively in upcoming initiatives. The session also included an Awards and Recognition segment, where top performers from previous years were felicitated for their academic excellence. Dr. Muralikrishna S N later conducted an engaging technical talk, enriching students with contemporary insights and emphasizing the importance of applying knowledge beyond the classroom.
This was followed by an informal celebration from 2:00 PM to 4:45 PM that included talent showcases, and interactive games. The program successfully created memorable first-year experiences, strengthened bonds across batches, and highlighted effective student-led event management despite budgetary constraints.
