Fiscal Finesse – Breaking Down the Union Budget 2025

The Department of Business Administration, in collaboration with Finnovate, MarketSense, and the EmpowerNet Forum, powered by Genesis, hosted a panel discussion titled “Fiscal Finesse – Breaking Down the Union Budget 2025” on February 18, 2025, at Kalam Auditorium. This insightful session aimed to dissect the key highlights of the budget, offering a deeper understanding of its economic impact. The discussion featured a distinguished panel of faculty members, including Ms. K. Manjula, Mr. Roopesh, Mr. Nelson Fernandes, and Ms. Deepthi Dinesh, with Ms. Prajwala Preema Rodrigues serving as the moderator. Additionally, student representatives contributed to the dialogue, facilitating a comprehensive exploration of fiscal policies, economic reforms, and financial strategies outlined in the Union Budget 2025.

The discussion was structured into three phases, focusing on key sectors of the Union Budget 2025-Defence and Security, Social, Economy and Development, Revenue and Expenditure, Environment and Sustainability, and Agriculture. There were 18 student panellists of final year MBA namely Abhin J Shetty, Aleena M Rodrigues, Darshan A Kurgi, Fathima Nassar, Kevin L Lobo, Michelle Monteiro, S Preethi, Olin N D’souza, Esha A G, Poojary Shravya S, Prathiksha Shetty, Swasthika R J Naik, Rishanth K Fernandes, Roshni A Crasta, Roshni S Rodrigues, Shamika S Gidbidi, Shreeja and Sushantha K Holla, divided into six groups with three members each. They were joined by four faculty panellists and a moderator, creating a platform for insightful discussions and expert analysis. In the first phase, student panellists teams presented their insights on their assigned sectors, breaking down budget allocations and policies. The second phase saw the moderator engaging faculty panellists in a Q&A session, bringing expert perspectives into the conversation. Finally, the third phase opened the floor for an interactive discussion between the moderator and MBA students, encouraging thoughtful debates and diverse viewpoints. The session proved to be highly informative, providing valuable insights for both the MBA students and faculty members in attendance.

The event was organized under the guidance of Professor & Dean Dr. Prakash Pinto and coordinated by Mr Nelson Marwin Fernandes, Mr Cherian Xavier, Ms Prajwala Preema Rodrigues, and Mr Thilak Gowda. Their leadership and efforts were instrumental in ensuring a well-structured and engaging discussion.
