The Department of Computer Applications, St. Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), through its student association “The Technocrats”, successfully organized Joshiana 14.0, a two-day National Level IT Fest, on 21st and 22nd November 2025. The fest saw enthusiastic participation from students of MCA, M.Sc. (CS), BCA, and B.Sc. (CS) from various institutions.
The fest was inaugurated on Friday, 21st November 2025, with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. Mr. Dhyanaja Alva A, Software Engineer II at Microsoft, was the Chief Guest, while Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director – SJEC, presided over the function. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Rayner Crasta, Assistant Director – SJEC, and Dr. Rio D’Souza, Principal – SJEC, were the Guests of Honour. Other dignitaries included Dr. Hareesh B, HOD – MCA; Ms. Nishmitha J, Convener; Mr. Harshith B, President of TechnoCrats; and Ms. Sannidhi Shetty, Secretary of TechnoCrats.
Welcoming the gathering, Dr. Hareesh B highlighted the objectives of the fest. Addressing the students, Dr. Rio D’Souza emphasized the importance of innovation, industry-relevant skills, and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence. The Chief Guest, Mr. Dhyanaja Alva A, encouraged students to remain curious, consistent, and value academic and laboratory work as foundations for professional growth. Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza noted that platforms like Joshiana enable students to test their skills and showcase talent beyond classrooms.
Joshiana 14.0 featured nine events including Coding, Web Design, IT Quiz, IT Manager, Gaming, Product Launch, Photography & Videography, Variety Contest, and Treasure Hunt. The events were conducted over two days by MCA students, with judges from within and outside the institution. Around 30 teams participated across UG and PG categories.
The valedictory ceremony was held on Saturday, 22nd November 2025, with Dr. Purushothama Chippar, Vice Principal – SJEC, as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized that skills are built through practice, patience, and perseverance, and advised students to focus on sustainable and future-ready skills. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Rayner Crasta highlighted that success lies in participation, continuous learning, and curiosity.
Presenting the event report, Ms. Sannidhi Shetty stated that the fest witnessed participation from 32 colleges with approximately 349 participants. The prize distribution ceremony recognized outstanding performers, with Shree Devi Institute of Technology, Kenjar, and St. Aloysius College, Mangalore, emerging as Overall Champions in PG and UG categories respectively.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Sunith Kumar T, Co-Convener of Joshiana 14.0. The program concluded with the rendition of the college anthem, marking a successful conclusion to Joshiana 14.0, which celebrated innovation, competition, and excellence in Information Technology.
