To enhance the knowledge on Tax policies and GST and its features and impact on economy, an informative Talk on "Good and service Tax and its impact on the Society" was arranged by the SIGMATHS Association, Department of Mathematics by Dr Therese Pereira, Assistant Professor, Department Of Commerce And Management of Dr. P. Dayananda Pai, Sathish Pai Govement First Grade College, Mangaluru on March 16, 2018 . The programme was held in Fr Fred Memorial Hall from 3.00pm to 5.00 pm. Along with the staff members of the department, approx. 140 students attended the programme.
Dr. Pereira in her talk explained the concepts of tax along with the various forms of tax such as-income tax, sales tax, corporate tax, service tax and so on. She also added that tax is a compulsory contribution to state revenue, lived by the govement on workers income and business profits or added to the cost of some good services and transactions. She then spoke about the concept of GST and various type of GST like Central good and Service Tax(CGST), State good and Service Tax(SGST), Integrated good and Service Tax(IGST), Union Territory Goods and Services Tax (UGST). Dr. Pereira ended her talk by giving the impact of GST on India. She added that GST is a biggest Tax reform in India with the Motto of "One Nation One Market One Tax". The SIGMATHS Association, Department of Mathematics is grateful to the Management for all the support and encouragement rendered towards the success of the programme.
