Talk on “Managing Personal Finance”

 

The Student Welfare Group of SJEC organized a talk for final year students of ME and CSE branches on the topic 'Managing Personal Finance' by resource person Mr. Anston Cleevan Pais, alumnus of 2017 (ME) batch, on 25th April 2022.

The resource person highlighted on the types of investments and finding better retus and value for money through right investments. It was an interactive session with students having worksheets to answer based on the presentation. He stressed on the importance of diversifying investments, preferably 50% in Debts and 50% in Equities and also spoke of the various types of investments based on the term plans like Short term mutual funds, Hybrid Equity Fund as a medium goal and a Diversified Equity Fund as a long term investment option. He further highlighted with actual statistics and case scenarios of how it is normal behaviour of the markets to show fluctuations in values in short term but the optimum retus of the same in a long term investment, beating inflation. The talk was a beneficial one, well received by the students who found it very interactive with video presentations.

 

The programme was compered by Ms. Venita Monteiro, Asst. Prof - Dept. of Physics. Mr. Rolvin Sunil D'Silva, Asst. Prof - Dept, of Mechanical Engineering welcomed the gathering and introduced the guest speaker. Chairperson of the SW Group, Dr. Shakila B. gave a floral welcome to the guest. Other members of the SW Group facilitated in the smooth functioning of the programme.
