The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a webinar on the topic "Finite Element Analysis/application in Virtual Design process" for the benefit of pre-final and final year students on 14 th October 2020 from 3 pm to 4 pm using Cisco webex platform. Total 144 participants registered and 64 of them participated actively during the webinar day. Mr. Suresh Shenoy, Managing Director, Pride Engineering Bristol, UK presented the topic and enlightened the students on various real time projects he worked during his 18 years of industrial experience on virtual design/analysis using the FEA method. Some of the projects discussed included

1. Introduction to Finite Element Simulation

2. Aircraft wing in-service issue/design modification.

3. In-service issue or failure RC study.

4. Aerospace virtual pre-test simulation.

5. Seating system FE analysis.

6. ODB- Frontal Crash test analysis.

7. Rear suspension upright analysis.

8. Topology and topography optimization.

His area of expertise included CAE related projects in the automobile domain for customers like Mahindra, Ferrari, McLaren, Maseratti, GM etc and technical consultant for Airbus projects like A380/A400/A320 programs. He worked for companies like Designtech systems Pune, Altair Engineering India Bangalore/UK and Infosys Bangalore/UK. A detailed attendance report is attached herewith.
