Dr Shakila B is currently Associate Professor in the Department of Business Administration at St Joseph Engineering College, an autonomous institution under Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in Karnataka, India. She started her teaching her teaching career in the year 1993 as a commerce lecturer in Badriya First Grade College, Mangalore and from 1994 to 2010 in Canara First Grade College Mangalore. She has 31 years of teaching experience.

Dr Shakila B received her Master of Commerce (M.Com) from Mangalore University, M Phil from Alagappa University Tamil Nadu and Ph D in Management from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in Karnataka, India. Dr Shakila B area of research includes of Capital Markets, Personal finance and Behavioural finance. published several papers in academic journals including Scopus indexed journals. She presented papers in national and international conferences. Dr Shakila B is a recognised Doctoral research supervisor in Management at Visvesvaraya Technological University and currently guiding 2 research scholars.

She was the member of Board of Examiners (BOE) of VTU. At present she is the examiner at St.Aloysius College MBA (AIMIT), (Autonomous), M.Com, St.Agnes College (Autonomous) and Nitte University MBA program. She is BOS member, BOE member and Governing Council member at St Joseph Engineering College (Autonomous).
