The Department of Civil Engineering conducts a 'Lecture Series on Civil Engineering 2023' in association with Research and Development Group. As a part of this lecture series, the second technical talk on 'The Scope of HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) in the Field of Civil Engineering and the Introduction to IOSH Qualification & NEBOSH Training' was organized for all the students and faculties of SJEC on 8th  March 2023 at 11.00 am in Bishop Aloysius Paul Hall, Civil Block. The talk was delivered by Mr. Alwyn Mendonca, HSE Consultant & Trainer, Heritage Safety Training Center, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Health, safety, and the environment are considered the top and most important priorities due to safeguarding human lives and properties and especially in high- risk industry sectors. Construction projects have been associated with a high risk of injury and fatal accidents from ancient times. However, even though both worker rights and conditions as well as technology have developed, accidents still happen on construction sites. The only way to secure a safe workplace is through complying with different regulations of HSE standards, Mr. Alwyn Mendonca added. The technical talk was organized by Dr. Yajneshwaran B, HOD-CE, and Dr. Sreya M V, Coordinator of Lecture Series, Dept. of Civil Engineering. Around 110 students and many faculties attended talks from various streams of engineering. This program provided a forum for students and faculties to interact with the speaker about his experiences and regarding the latest developments in Health, safety, and Environment standards in the field of Civil engineering. It was an informative session and a new step taken by the department for the betterment of the students.
