Objective of the Activity:
The Xavier Board Founder’s Day programme, themed “Many Faiths, One Light,” was organized by AICUF ,SJEC under CCG in association with Dept of ECE to commemorate Xavier Board Founder’s Day and remember the legacy of Rev. Fr. Jerome D’Souza SJ. The programme aimed to promote interreligious harmony, unity, peace, mutual respect, compassion and shared human values.
The theme “Different Faiths | Shared Values | A Brighter Tomorrow” emphasized that people from different faiths can come together while respecting their differences and working towards peace, unity and a better society.
Description of the Activity:
The programme was began with the Founder’s Day Video, which set the context for the celebration and highlighted the significance of the occasion.
This was followed by the Welcome Address by Mr. Ajay Prenal D’Souza, President, who welcomed the gathering and set the tone for the programme. A Prayer Song was then conducted, creating a spiritual and reflective atmosphere.
The Director of St. Joseph Engineering College, Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, addressed the gathering and shared his valuable thoughts. His address added significance to the celebration and encouraged the participants to reflect on the values represented by the occasion.
The Candle Lighting Ceremony was conducted as a symbol of unity, hope and remembrance. The lighting of the candles conveyed the message that when light is shared, it does not become smaller but instead makes the surroundings brighter. It represented the importance of sharing hope and becoming a source of light in the lives of others.
The main highlight of the programme was the Inter-Religious Prayer, which brought participants together in prayer while respecting different faith traditions. The prayer emphasized peace, love, compassion, respect and the shared values that unite humanity.
The formal programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Ms. Vinisha Dias, Secretary, AICUF SJEC Unit. She expressed gratitude to the college leadership, coordinators, committees, volunteers, students and staff who contributed to making the programme meaningful and successful.
The programme received the support and guidance of the college leadership by Director of SJEC Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Dr. K. Jyothi, Dean of Student Welfare, and Dr. Dayakshini, HOD – Department of ECE, were acknowledged for their encouragement and support.
The Faculty Coordinators were Mr. Joysun D’Souza and Ms. Vinitha Pasanha, while the Student Coordinators were Mr. Ajay D’Souza and Ms. Senona Pereira.
The Xavier Board Founder’s Day celebration, “Many Faiths, One Light,” was a meaningful and inspiring programme that brought around 71 members together in a spirit of prayer, remembrance, unity and fellowship.
Through the Founder’s Day video, welcome address, prayer song, Director’s address, candle lighting and interreligious prayer, the programme highlighted the importance of respecting different faiths while recognizing the shared values that unite humanity.
The remembrance of Rev. Fr. Jerome D’Souza SJ added a deeper significance to the celebration and reminded everyone of the importance of continuing his legacy by becoming a light in the lives of others.
