The Department of MCA, in association with the IEEE SJEC Student Branch, successfully organized a Guest Lecture on "Integrating Research-Based Approaches to Build Applications" on Saturday, 21st December 2024, from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Prerana Hall, Ground Floor, Academic Block – III. The session was designed for first-year MCA students and was delivered by Dr. Mangala Shetty, Associate Professor at N.M.A.M.I.T, Nitte.
The lecture provided a structured learning experience, helping students understand the significance of Literature Review and its role in academic research. Dr. Shetty elaborated on various essential tools and methodologies for conducting effective research, including Google Scholar, which she demonstrated as a key resource for finding scholarly articles, citations, and references. She also introduced AI-driven tools such as SciSpace, which assist researchers in locating relevant studies and literature efficiently. Additionally, she explained the benefits of Overleaf, an online LaTeX and rich text collaborative writing and publishing platform, covering aspects such as collaborative writing, LaTeX integration, and academic paper templates.
Students actively participated in the session, engaging in a Q&A segment where they discussed research topics and tools with the speaker. The event was well-received, providing valuable insights into integrating research methodologies into application development and enhancing students' understanding of digital tools that improve academic research efficiency.
