Final year BE Civil Engineering students accompanied by three faculty members visited V&G laboratory, Baikampady as well as New Mangalore Port, Panamboor, Mangalore on 4 May 2018. The visit to V&G laboratory was mainly organised to make aware the students about the use new advanced techniques and equipment's in the industry in addition to their curriculum requirements. A few such equipment's to which the students were exposed to were, Non-destructive testing equipment's such as Reboud hammer, Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity method etc. The visit to New Mangalore Port, Mangalore was to meet the purpose of showing certain steel structures, such as Gantry Girders and its functioning, as well as to show the students live examples of boarding of ships through the marked channels near jetty etc. Overall the visit was satisfactory in meeting the expectations of the students.
