The Department of Civil Engineering organized an industrial visit to NMPT Mangaluru on 13 th November 2017 for the V Semester students. Three Faculty members Mr Vijay H, Mr Manjunath B and Ms Vani D accompanied a group of 64 students. New Mangalore Port is a shipping port and the visit was aimed at understanding the layout of the port and the various processes like halting of the ship, ship/vessel repair etc. The visit helped the students in enhancing their knowledge and the students were able to practically understand the concepts. Furthermore, students were able to understand the difference between natural and artificial harbor and how the port location should be selected, so that the location is able to be connected by various means of transport.
