Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 worldwide, in this regard “Jagruti-prevention of sexual assault committee of SJEC organized a talk on “Gender Sensitization & Anti-Sexual Harassment” on April 4, 2019 at 12.00pm to 1.00pm in Prerana Hall, AB-III, I floor . In the session, speaker highlighted on following points: A situation or an act that makes a person uncomfortable/forces a person to do something unusual that greatly impacts his/her physical or mental health is harassment.  Harassment comprises of not just the physical harassment.  If a person’s thoughts and actions impact someone else, and embarrasses them, the action is termed as Harassment.  This act is found to be seen in several fields including workplaces, Institutions, public areas, public transport, and many more.  At workplaces a boss could be harassing his/her employees. At an Institution, higher authorities could be harassing their subordinates or students could be a victim of harassment by the facilitators.  Prevention of harassment is the need of the hour. Though harassment is found among both the genders, women are the major victims.  Women should be aware of the laws passed against this act and also have knowledge regarding the provisions made.  It is mandatory to have organizations in college that take care of the preventing harassment towards women.  Awareness should be spread among women regarding their rights. As individuals it is our duty to report to the conceed authorities if subjected to any such harassment.  It is also required that we raise our voices for those innocent people who are subjected to it, so that justice is made right. At the end of the session the resource person was honored with the memento and letter of appreciation. The session was appreciated by all the female students of SJEC.
