The Department of Business Administration, St. Joseph Engineering College Mangalore, organized an industrial visit to Leksa Lighting Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Moodbidri, on 13th June 2026 for A batch and on 15th June 2026 for B batch as a part of Corporate Etiquette and Personality Development- II course designed in the MBA curriculum. The primary objective of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to industrial operations, manufacturing processes, organizational management, and technological innovations. The visit offered an excellent opportunity to observe the practical application of management principles studied in the classroom while interacting with industry professionals.
The MBA students of A- batch was accompanied by Mr Cherian Xavier and Ms Prajwala Preema Rodrigues Assistant Professors in the Department of Business Administration SJEC and B-batch students were accompanied by Dr Babitha Rohit, Associate Professor and Ms Acharya Chitralekha J, Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Administration SJEC. The journey was pleasant and informative, creating enthusiasm among the students to gain first-hand knowledge of the operations of a leading lighting manufacturing company.
Upon arrival at Leksa Lighting Technologies Pvt. Ltd, the students received a warm welcome from the Marketing Head and other members of the management team. The officials introduced the organization and outlined the schedule for the visit, ensuring that every session was both educational and interactive. The visit progressed with a comprehensive presentation highlighting the company's history, vision, mission, growth, and business operations. The Marketing Head explained the company's diverse range of lighting products, manufacturing capabilities, and commitment to delivering high-quality lighting solutions.
Students were also introduced to the company's domestic and international market presence, distribution network, and business expansion strategies. The session emphasized the organization's focus on innovation, customer satisfaction, sustainable manufacturing practices, and continuous technological advancement, which have enabled it to establish a strong reputation in the lighting industry. One of the most engaging segments of the industrial visit was the exclusive lighting demonstration conducted by the company. Students were taken to a specially designed demonstration room where various lighting products, smart lighting systems, and decorative lighting effects were showcased. The presentation featured dynamic lighting patterns, multiple colour combinations, synchronized lighting effects, and ambient background music, effectively demonstrating the versatility and technological sophistication of modern lighting solutions.
The demonstration enabled students to understand the practical applications of lighting technology in residential, commercial, industrial, and architectural environments. It also highlighted the importance of product design, energy efficiency, aesthetics, and customer-centric innovation in today's competitive lighting market. Following the demonstration, the students were divided into 2 groups to facilitate a more detailed understanding of the company's operations. Each group was guided through different sections of the manufacturing facility by company representatives, who explained the activities performed in each department. The visit covered several important functional areas, including Manufacturing and assembly processes, Procurement and inventory management, Quality assurance and testing procedures, Product design and research & development, Packaging and logistics, Marketing and sales operations, Organizational coordination and workflow management.
The representatives explained how raw materials are transformed into finished lighting products using standardized manufacturing procedures and quality control mechanisms. Students observed various production stages and gained valuable insights into workflow planning, process optimization, and operational efficiency.
Special emphasis was placed on quality assurance practices. Students witnessed the Ingress Protection (IP) Water Shower Test, which evaluates the water resistance and durability of outdoor luminaires under simulated environmental conditions. This demonstration highlighted the company's commitment to maintaining high product quality and compliance with industry standards. Students actively interacted with company officials, clarified their doubts regarding manufacturing operations and management practices, and gained a deeper understanding of how different departments collaborate to achieve organizational objectives. Overall, the industrial visit proved to be highly informative, educational, and enriching. It provided valuable practical exposure to industrial operations, enhanced students' understanding of management concepts through real-world observation, and inspired them to develop a more professional outlook toward their future careers in business and management.
