PG Inauguration 2025 - 26

St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, an Autonomous Institution, inaugurated its PG Courses for the academic year 2025-26 on Wednesday, 5th November 2025 at 9:30 a.m. in Kalam Auditorium, Academic Block II.

Adv. Vivekananda Paniyala, Corporate Advocate, Mangaluru was the esteemed Chief Guest for the program. Adv. Vivekananda Paniyala , is a first Rank holder in the State of Karnataka, he holds a Master’s in Business & Trade Law from Karnataka State Law University, and a Bachelor of Laws from S.D.M. Law College, Mangalore. Mr. Paniyala has made an indelible mark in Real Estate and Property Law, Corporate Legal Risk Management, and Arbitration. Currently, he continues to inspire the legal fraternity as he leads Paniyala Associates, providing expert counsel in corporate and infrastructure law.

 

Ms Prajwala Preema Rodrigues, Assistant Professor- MBA, welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest.

Dr Rio D'Souza, Principal, SJEC, addressed the gathering and welcomed all the first-year students. He emphasized the need for integrity and humility among students, reminding them to let teachers and the Almighty guide them toward wisdom and truth. He highlighted St. Joseph the Worker, the foster father of Jesus and a carpenter, as the ideal patron for an engineering college and urged PG students to be role models for others.

The PGCET rank holders from first year MBA and MCA were felicitated by the Chief Guest. The rank holders are Palvi Fernandes and Jovita Riya Dsouza from MBA; Anan Mohith K V and Harshith from MCA.

Adv. Vivekananda Paniyala, in his inaugural speech inspired the gathering by sharing his experiences, highlighting that management lessons begin at home and the institution itself is a model for future managers. Through his experience, he noted that successful corporate leaders have three things in common, those are justice, clarity, and commitment, and urged students to learn humbly from their teachers while exploring life beyond academics. He also encouraged legal awareness among MBA and MCA students, suggesting a short-term courses on IPR, confidentiality, POSH, and cyber defamation.

Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director of SJEC, delivered the Presidential address. He reflected on the speeches of the Principal and Chief Guest, quoting Gandhi’s words, “In a gentle way, you can shake the world.” He emphasized that true education goes beyond knowledge to transformation, urging students to remain humble, value-driven, and compassionate in their pursuits. He encouraged them to seek wisdom amid uncertainty, be ambitious yet honest, and focus on progress rather than profit.

Rev. Fr Kenneth R Crasta, Assistant Director, SJEC, Dr Prakash Pinto, Dean-MBA and Dr Hareesh B, HOD-MCA were also the dignitaries on the dias.

Ms K Manjula, Convener of the program, rendered the vote of thanks. Mr. Nelson Fernandes, Asst. Professor, MBA, compered the programme.
