Three-Day Workshop on “Business Modeling for PBL Projects”

The Department of Business Administration, in association with the SJEC Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Sanjosh – The SJEC Teaching Learning Center, organized a three-day workshop on “Business Modeling for PBL Projects” from 26th to 28th March 2026 at Spoorthi Hall, AB III, St Joseph Engineering College, Mangaluru.

The workshop was organized for selected PBL project teams from I, III, and V semesters of the academic year 2025–2026. The event aimed to help students understand how innovative project ideas can be transformed into sustainable and practical business models.

The sessions were conducted by the invited resource persons, Dr. Ambuj Kumar and Dr. Sharvari Sane. Dr. Ambuj Kumar delivered an insightful session on the Business Model Canvas, explaining its components and demonstrating how startups and projects can structure their value propositions, customer segments, revenue streams, and operational activities effectively.

Dr. Sharvari Sane conducted sessions on Market Research and Competitor Analysis, emphasizing the importance of understanding customer needs, identifying market opportunities, and analyzing competitors before launching a product or service.

The inaugural session and overall proceedings of the program were compered by Mr. Nelson Marwin Fernandes, who smoothly coordinated the event and engaged the participants throughout the workshop.

A total of 34 teams presented their innovative PBL project ideas before the respective resource persons for evaluation and guidance. The presentations covered diverse domains including smart systems, healthcare, sustainability, AI-based solutions, traffic management, waste management, and educational platforms. The resource persons interacted with the teams, provided constructive feedback, and guided students on improving the feasibility and scalability of their business ideas.

The workshop proved to be highly informative and beneficial for the students, as it enhanced their understanding of entrepreneurship, innovation, and business planning. The participants gained practical exposure to developing market-oriented project solutions and learned the importance of converting technical ideas into viable business opportunities.

The event concluded successfully with positive feedback from both students and faculty members, making it a valuable learning experience for all participants.
